Lynda Benglis & Giacometti: Back at ya
Barbican Art Gallery
⚡
Lynda Benglis challenged sculpture conventions since the 1960s with her electric-colored polyurethane pours. At the Barbican Art Gallery, her organic and textured forms engage in a silent conversation with Alberto Giacometti’s filiform silhouettes. This unprecedented face-to-face gathering brings together thirty works on paper, wire, and glitter, revealing rare drawings and preparatory studies often hidden in the shadows. While Giacometti’s bronze seems to evaporate in space, Benglis’ vibrant matter asserts itself through its raw physical presence. This encounter between European existentialism and American audacity questions our relationship to the body and movement across time. A chance to capture the creative process of these two modern masters, from February 12th to May 31st, 2026.
