Tracey Emin: A Second Life - Tate Modern
This major retrospective exhibition celebrates forty years of the artistic practice of Tracey Emin, one of the most influential British artists of her generation. The exhibition presents her most iconic works, including the celebrated installation My Bed, as well as neon signs, textiles, paintings, and sculptures. The title ‘A Second Life’ refers to the artist’s renaissance after cancer and surgical operations that transformed her relationship to her body and her art. The exhibited works explore intimate themes such as love, loss, sexuality, vulnerability, and resilience. Emin uses a direct and emotional visual language that draws upon her personal experience to create universally touching works. The exhibition also includes new works never before exhibited, testifying to the artist’s continuing artistic vitality.
