In 1943, the Museum of Modern Art already exhibited the photographs of children by Helen Levitt, marking the beginning of a lasting influence. This retrospective from the Fundación MAPFRE presents nearly 200 images captured between 1930 and 1990, offering an intimate look at the daily lives of New York’s popular neighborhoods. Levitt, a pioneer of street photography, immortalized moments of tenderness and keen observation: children playing in the streets, chance encounters, and the discreet beauty of everyday life. Her work, characterized by remarkable humanity, has inspired generations of photographers. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to discover an essential artistic legacy, testifying to a particular sensitivity to urban life and to marginalized figures. Visitors will be able to admire images that reveal a world in motion, captured with poetic attention and deep empathy. Admission costs 5€ and the exhibition is open from February 19 to May 17, 2026.
