That Ship on the Mountain

For over forty years, Juan Uslé has shaped pictorial universes where memory and emotion blend with a unique aesthetic. The retrospective at the Museo Reina Sofía, which extends from November 2025 to April 2026, offers an unprecedented journey through his works. The exhibition, designed for the New Building, presents a collection of approximately eleven ‘rooms’ where the artist explores the links between the visible and the invisible, the personal and the universal. Uslé, influenced by De Kooning, uses vibrant palettes and layered compositions, creating rich interior landscapes full of cultural references. This presentation, the result of a collaboration with Ángel Calvo Ulloa, highlights the evolution of his style, from his early expressionist works to his more recent abstractions. The exhibition is free, a unique opportunity to discover a major artist of the contemporary Spanish scene.
