In 1959, Menchu Gal became the first woman to receive the prestigious Spanish National Painting Prize, marking a breakthrough in the art world. This exhibition, presented at Espacio Cultural Serrería Belga, offers an unprecedented access to the pictorial universe of this Basque artist, known for her vibrant landscapes of the Basque Country and the Cantabrian coast. More than fifty works, drawn from private and public collections, trace an artistic journey marked by creative independence and a particular sensitivity to light and color. The exhibition, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of her last solo, highlights her mastery of color and her ability to capture the soul of places. Visitors will discover portraits full of finesse, peaceful interiors, and urban views brimming with emotion. The work of Menchu Gal, influenced by her stay in Paris and her training under Amédée Ozenfant, testifies to a modern vision and a constant exploration of light and form. Admission is free upon presentation of a valid form of identification.
