Moby Dick. The Dream of Captain Ahab - Centro Cultural Casa de Vacas
Inspired by Melville’s monumental work, the exhibition “Moby Dick. The Dream of Captain Ahab” offers a contemporary interpretation of the captain’s obsessive quest. Andalusian artist Esteban Ruiz weaves a series of powerful works, blending oxidation, pen drawings, and mixed media techniques. The work explores themes of obsession, the wild nature, and the dream through a raw and poetic aesthetic. This exhibition, presented at the Centro Cultural Casa de Vacas, was born from a re-reading of “Moby Dick” and the study of 19th-century barcos balleneros logbooks, revealing a fascination for the ocean and its mysteries. The influence of Ruiz’s work on the marine theme, including his experience aboard the Trache a Horzier, is reflected in creations full of texture and form. Admission is free from April 2nd to 26th.
