In 2025, the Hispanic Society Museum & Library offers an unprecedented look at the work of Francisco de Goya, an artist who witnessed firsthand the upheavals of the early 19th century. The exhibition ‘Goya and the Age of Revolution’ explores how the American and French Revolutions, as well as the Spanish War, radically transformed his style, moving from the ideals of the Enlightenment to the horrors of war. Visitors will discover paintings, engravings, and drawings, including the ‘Disasters of War,’ a series of 82 striking lithographs. The free exhibition highlights Goya’s ability to capture both the hope and disillusionment of his time. It coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Declaration of Independence. The exhibition is open from December 11, 2025, to June 28, 2026.
