Molly Bounds: The Light That Loses, The Night That Wins - Mrs.
Marking the debut solo exhibition for Canadian artist Molly Bounds, ‘The Light That Loses, The Night That Wins’ explores the delicate dance between illumination and shadow. Opening on the vernal equinox, Bounds’ paintings, crafted in oil and acrylic, capture intimate moments of transition – mirroring the shift from winter’s stillness to spring’s burgeoning life. The series investigates vulnerability and resilience through psychologically rich portraits, often depicting figures in contemplative repose or moments of urgent movement. Inspired by the transient nature of time and the evocative imagery of Georges de la Tour, Bounds creates a sense of both melancholy and possibility. This exhibition, a significant moment for the artist, showcases her exploration of liminal spaces and the powerful symbolism of light and darkness. Free to the public, it runs from March 21st to May 2nd, 2026.
