Tromarama: Upon a Machine

The Indonesian collective Tromarama will be installing at The Kitchen from April 23rd to June 13th, 2026, for their first institutional exhibition in the United States. These visionary artists are entrusting their personal archives—texts and music—to artificial intelligence to observe how technology transforms our intimate and collective narratives. At the heart of this project, karaoke projections and sound compositions inspired by the Disney universe challenge perceptions. They are creating a singular landscape where work and leisure blend, within post-colonial economies undergoing digital transformation. It’s a rare opportunity to observe the encounter between human memories and generative algorithms in an experimental setting. This striking proposition interrogates the place of the individual in the age of global data while remaining accessible and playful.
