Zeelie Brown: a sonata to seed whatever flourishes after the end of the American Empire - Recess
From April 2nd to May 9th, 2026, Recess will host Zeelie Brown for an exhibition that reinvents contemporary art. This cellist and composer explores the cultural roots of the American South and the Caribbean through a sonic and visual laboratory. Each visitor is invited to participate, by listening to improvisations on a new cello, sharing traditional meals, or contributing to a collective reflection. The exhibition questions current power structures while nourishing the imagination towards more just and ecological future alternatives. Don’t miss this immersive experience that blends music, cuisine, and environmental philosophy.
