Brion Gysin spent his life blurring the lines between painting, writing, and performance. A leading figure of the Beat Generation and a close collaborator of William Burroughs, he revolutionized creation with his “cut-up” technique and his famous Dreamachine, designed to be viewed with closed eyes. The Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris is finally dedicating a major retrospective to this elusive creator, the first historical one in the capital. His calligraphic manuscripts, desert landscapes, and magnetic experiments reveal a visionary mind that transformed our relationship to language and image. This journey highlights the influence of this tireless inventor on contemporary art and underground culture. His hypnotic visions and radical research are visible from April 10th to July 12th, 2026.
