Museum of Romantic Life: Temporary Exhibitions

From February 14th to August 30th, 2026, the Musée de la Vie romantique will host a remarkable exhibition on Paul Huet. This painter, a forerunner of Romantic landscape painting, liberated plein air painting from academic rules to focus on atmospheric variations and the emotional expression of the sky. The itinerary, developed in five sections, follows the thread of an entire career dedicated to capturing the air, light, and movement of clouds. From youthful canvases to mature works, this exhibition reveals how Huet transformed the sky into a vehicle for emotions, foreshadowing impressionist techniques. The visitor discovers how these inaugural canvases elevate the landscape to the rank of expressive genre, offering a sensory journey through the painter’s life and times.
