Between 1957 and 1958, a young anthropologist of twenty-five years old traveled the popular districts of Rome with her camera. Annabella Rossi (1933-1984) captured a city far from the tourist circuits, documenting traditions, festivals, and the daily life of the working-class. This exhibition retraces the pioneering work of a central figure in Italian ethnography who transformed photography into an anthropological tool of investigation. Her black and white images reveal an authentic Rome, made of ancestral rituals and raw moments of life. The route presents rare photographs taken during her field research, offering a unique testimony on a bygone era. This retrospective highlights the innovative approach of a researcher who was able to fuse scientific rigor and artistic sensitivity to create a true poetry of reality.
