Between 1999 and 2017, filmmaker Francesco Conversano traveled across the United States, capturing the authentic soul of American roads. Ninety photographs in black and white compose a visual narrative where memory and the imaginary of America intertwine. The images reveal desert landscapes, abandoned motels, illuminated signs, and faces marked by time. Conversano practices a “cinema of reality” that meets the settled mythologies of the American West. His photographs evoke both the road movie and documentary photography, creating a melancholic and poetic atmosphere. The title refers to the blue highways of road maps, these lines that trace the infinity of possibilities. An exhibition that invites a contemplative journey into an America off the beaten path, between nostalgia and discovery.
