First institutional exhibition in Italy of French artist Nicole Gravier, a pioneer in the visual détournement of popular images. Her work, *Fotoromanzo*, revisits the codes of Italian photo-roman from the 1970s to denounce patriarchy and gender stereotypes. By appropriating these cliché images, the artist creates a critical discourse on the representation of women in popular culture. Her compositions blend photography and text to create narratives that question the social roles imposed on women. Gravier uses irony and subversion to transform these sentimental images into feminist manifestos. Each work deconstructs romantic myths and the illusions conveyed by mass media. This exhibition offers a sharp look at the condition of women and the mechanisms of cultural domination, with an artistic approach that is both engaged and poetic.
