Return to Galleria Borghese. Giovan Francesco Penni

The Borghese Gallery celebrates the “return home” of Allegory of Hope, acquired in 2025 and attributed to Giovan Francesco Penni. This work is thus reunited with the panel that formed its counterpart, creating a reunited dialogue after centuries of separation. Penni (1488-1528), one of Raphael’s closest collaborators, played a crucial role in the diffusion of the Raphael style after the master’s death. The exhibition explores the figure of this artist often overshadowed by Raphael but essential for understanding the workshop policy of the Renaissance.
