Eric Aho’s ‘The Meadow’s Edge’ unveils a captivating collection of new oil paintings crafted between 2024 and 2026, born from a singular dedication: witnessing the meadow in its most fleeting moments. Inspired by his surname, Aho – Finnish for ‘wild meadow’ – he meticulously captures the ephemeral dance of light and shadow across snowfields, blossoming wildflowers, and firefly-lit nights. The exhibition showcases a profound exploration of perception, mirroring both the natural world and the artist's internal landscape. Aho’s work is characterized by a deliberate slowing down—he began painting ‘Meadow at Sunrise’ in June 2025, pausing until August when asters bloomed, reflecting his deep connection to New England flora. Alongside vibrant floral abstractions reimagining Dutch still lifes and evocative nocturnal scenes of the boreal forest, Aho investigates the relationship between visibility and obscurity. The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive monograph released in September 2026, featuring essays from John Yau and Janne Sirén. This collection offers a rare glimpse into an artist deeply engaged with time, light, and the quiet beauty of the natural world.
