Amongst the Living

Sam Falls makes nature his outdoor studio, allowing the environment to dictate the rhythm of his creations. For his fourth exhibition at the 303 Gallery, the artist fuses painting, photography, and ceramics to wrench us away from digital agitation. His life-size botanical imprints, frozen in clay, transform ephemeral flowers into delicate fossils captured at their peak bloom. Even more surprising, terrazzo sculptures embedded with medicinal stones break the usual codes of art: they are designed to be touched and manipulated physically. Completed by vases inspired by Japanese Ikebana, intended to house genuine seasonal compositions, these works blur the boundary between inert object and living element.
