David Hammons and Jannis Kounellis

In 2026, White Cube proposes a unique encounter between two major figures in contemporary art: David Hammons and Jannis Kounellis. This exhibition marks the first joint presentation of their works in over 30 years, offering a look at their collaboration and mutual influence. Hammons, known for his ephemeral installations and use of recycled materials, will be alongside Kounellis, famous for his complex sculptural installations integrating animals, everyday objects, and textiles. The exhibition revisits a key moment in their artistic journey, their meeting and their first joint exhibition at the American Academy in Rome in the 1990s. This rare presentation allows us to understand the evolution of their practices and the importance of their friendship. The exhibition is free and will open on May 1, 2026.
