Elizabeth Abel: Acquiescence - Hollis Taggart
In April 2026, Hollis Taggart Downtown inaugurates a crucial exhibition: the first American monograph of artist Elizabeth Abel. The work ‘Acquiescence’ explores the tension between presence and absence through paintings saturated with water, created by Abel in concentrated ‘bursts.’ Influenced by Turner and Jungwirth, she uses paint directly from the tube to capture sensations and memories, evoking traces of dissipated energy. This exhibition marks an important milestone in Abel’s career, who works the act of painting as an excavation, a search for the ephemeral. ‘Acquiescence’ is an invitation to contemplate the residues of human experience. The exhibition is open from April 10th to May 10th, 2026.
