Starlight

Starting in 2026, the Museum of the City of New York is hosting ‘Starlight,’ a spectacular light installation designed by Studio Joseph. Replacing a 19th-century chandelier, this project of over 5,000 light points transforms the museum’s entrance, a space typically dedicated to celebrating the city’s history. The artwork, powered by low-consumption technology, creates captivating geometric illusions and reflects the museum’s mission to connect the past and present of New York. This installation, quickly becoming one of the museum’s most photographed attractions, is a testament to artistic innovation and the museum’s commitment to immersive experiences. ‘Starlight’ is a centerpiece that redefines the museum’s entrance and offers a central gathering point for visitors. The installation will be visible until December 2099.
