De Koninginnen van het Bos: foto-tentoonstelling van Françoise Evenou

In 2026, the Bibliothèque Marguerite Durand (BMD) will host a striking photographic series: “Les Reines du Bois” (The Queens of the Wood). Françoise Evenou spent 18 months listening to women migrants, transgender individuals, from Ecuador, Peru and Colombia who had found refuge in the Bois de Boulogne after having been confronted with prostitution. These portraits are captivating by their strength and dignity, revealing paths marked by suffering but also a deep resilience. The exhibition sheds light on stories of women such as Gina, whose poignant gaze questions our judgment. Through striking images and audio recordings, Evenou explores identity, difference, and the consequences of exclusion. A poignant work that invites reflection and respect for human diversity.
