Anna Pekkala - UNIDENTIFIED

The Finnish artist Anna Pekkala challenges our biological certainties at Galerie Pleiku from March 31st to April 11th, 2026. Through unsettlingly textured sculptures, she brings to life hybrid creatures situated at the edge of the vegetal, animal, and mineral kingdoms. These intriguing works appear to be from a dimension where scientific classification no longer holds sway. Manipulating a variety of materials, Pekkala shapes organisms that breathe empathy and question our connection to life. Faced with these mutating forms, the gaze hesitates: is it a root, a skin, or a futuristic fossil? This poetic interlude confronts us with the unknown with a magnetic tenderness. It’s a rare opportunity to confront forms of life that defy all labels, within a space dedicated to radical otherness.
