Faces of mind

Over 200 works seize upon a universal subject: the human skull, considered here not as a relic, but as the vibrant cradle of our thoughts. At the Haus Kunst Mitte, five decades of contemporary creation unfold through the treasures of the PECADI foundation. Paintings, sculptures, and photographs challenge the codes of classical portraiture to probe the invisible. The face is fragmented, metamorphosed, or masked there, revealing the meanders of identity and perception. Between abstraction and figuration, each artist questions the delicate boundary between physical appearance and inner life. This exceptional gathering of rare pieces highlights the strangeness and beauty of our relationship to the other. This striking artistic journey is open to the public from February 17 to April 11, 2026.
