Today yet, tomorrow surely – Filmic Perspectives on Berlin Around 1990 - Museum Nikolaikirche
Thirty-five years after the fall of the Wall, this documentary exhibition captures the effervescence of a city in the midst of transformation. Short films, excerpts from feature films, and archival documents tell the story of daily life for Berliners during this pivotal period when anything was still possible. The Nikolaikirche, Berlin’s oldest religious building, provides a striking setting for this cinematic retrospective. The works presented bear witness to the political, social, and cultural upheavals that redefined the identity of the German capital. Between the euphoria of reunification and uncertainties about the future, the images reveal a city in search of new landmarks. Poignant testimonies coexist with moments of popular joy, creating a complex and moving human fresco. This plunge into Berlin in the 1990s questions our relationship to time and urban transformations.
