Andrea Pazienza. You don't always die

Starting April 23, 2026, the MAXXI will present the second chapter of the monographic exhibition on Andrea Pazienza, following its success at MAXXI L'Aquila. Curated by Giulia Ferracci and Oscar Glioti, the exhibition explores the relationship between word and image in the work of the Italian illustrator. Hundreds of original boards present iconic characters such as Zanardi, Pentothal, Pertini, and Pompeo. The exhibition traces Pazienza’s artistic journey, a major figure in Italian comic book art from the 1970s-1980s, and his influence on contemporary visual culture. This retrospective offers an in-depth look at an artist who revolutionized the language of Italian comic books.
