Geneva Cafes: The Life Itself
Bibliothèque de Genève
🍃
Dany Gignoux captured the essence of Geneva's bistros during the 1970s and 1980s, freezing the soul of these meeting places. His black and white photographs reveal the intimacy of counters where animated conversations intermix with contemplative silences. This exhibition at the Bibliothèque de Genève will make these images vibrate to the rhythm of the poet Georges Haldas' texts. Together they resurrect an era when cafés served as true public salons, essential crossroads of local culture and sociability. This artistic encounter offers a vibrant testimony on an urban identity shaped by fortuitous encounters and daily rituals. It is a precious opportunity to revisit the authentic ambience of these urban refuges from March 16th to October 17th, 2026.
