Metamorphosis. Ovid and the Arts
Galleria Borghese
🧘
From June 23 to September 20, 2026, the Galleria Borghese presents its major summer exhibition dedicated to Ovid’s Metamorphoses and its influence on the arts. Curated by Francesca Cappelletti and Frits Scholten, the exhibition explores how the poet’s stories of transformation inspired artists from the Renaissance to the Baroque. Visitors discover sculptures by Bernini, paintings by Titian and Caravaggio, in dialogue with Ovid’s texts. The exhibition offers an immersive journey through the myths of Daphne, Apollo, Narcissus, and other iconic figures. This exhibition celebrates the inseparable link between classical literature and visual art in the Borghese collection.
