MetroCard Art Exhibition

This small yellow plastic rectangle, formerly indispensable for crossing the New York turnstyles, is embarking on a new life under the Grand Central vaults. Over fifty creators, blending established signatures and rising talents, have seized this everyday support to create a miniature narrative. These works transform a banal object into a social and graphic fresco, paying tribute to the millions of users who have shaped the history of the subway system. The project transforms this legendary railway crossroads into an unconventional gallery, where urban poetry is expressed in a few square centimeters. The creations remain visible for all until October 31st, 2026, providing a rare opportunity to witness the mutation of a city icon before its predicted disappearance from automated ticket booths.
