Photographing Lebanon’s Heritage, 1864-1970
L'Institut du Monde Arabe
🍃
For the first time in France, the precious archives of the Saint-Joseph University of Beirut Oriental Library are inviting you to the Institut du Monde Arabe. This selection of photographs, captured between 1864 and 1970, offers a unique visual testimony on the country’s iconic sites and monuments – the Land of the Cedar. At a time when this historical heritage is facing serious threats, these images capture the splendor of landscapes and architectures with millennial roots. Located on the seventh level of the museum, this exhibition resonates with current events to highlight the urgency of cultural preservation in the Middle East. An essential journey through time that pays homage to the fragility and beauty of an exceptional heritage, to be experienced from April 2025 to April 2026.
