The Braille Adventure, Two Centuries of Innovation - Médiathèque Marguerite Duras
In 1825, Louis Braille, a young blind man, invented a revolutionary system of reading and writing based on raised dots, transforming access to information for visually impaired people. This immersive exhibition at the Marguerite Duras Media Library celebrates the bicentenary of this innovation. From embossed tablets to electronic braille readers, it traces two centuries of evolution, illustrating the impact of braille on society and education. Organized in partnership with the INSEI and the Pôle Lire Autrement, the exhibition offers an exploration of the different applications of braille, from literature to science. It is free and accessible from May 12 to June 29, 2026. A unique opportunity to understand the history of innovation and to celebrate an essential tool for inclusion. To take advantage of it, be sure to register with the Réseau des Médiathèques Coeur d'Essonne.
