"We Lived in the Tundra" - Photographic Exhibition - Centre Jean Verdier
Natalya Saprunova has traversed the icy expanses to document the life of the Saami, Europe's last indigenous people. From January 20th to February 19th, 2026, the Jean Verdier Centre will host this powerful visual testimony on a culture fighting to preserve its identity and traditions. Through the photographer’s lens, the everyday in the Arctic reveals itself away from beaten paths: reindeer husbandry, ancestral rituals and the constant challenge posed by climate change. These striking images highlight the resilience of this community facing the rapid march of modernity. The artist prioritizes a deeply human documentary approach, capturing moments of grace amidst the polar landscapes. A visual break necessary for understanding the vital links that still bind man to a wild yet vulnerable nature.
