Out of the Box – Action Bodies

Franz Erhard Walther radicalized the use of textiles: for him, fabric is not a surface to be contemplated, but a tool to be activated by the body. At the ifa-Galerie Berlin, this approach serves as a dialogue between historical holdings and contemporary creations, particularly from Eastern Europe. From videos to flexible sculptures, the works transform ordinary gestures — bending, holding, walking — into genuine political acts. They explore fatigue, care, and the right to occupy social space. Far from a frozen museum, the venue functions as a movement workshop where each object suggests a waiting action. The pace of wandering is slow, punctuated by installations inviting one to sit down to rethink our relationship with work. Admission is free Tuesday through Sunday afternoons, with an evening opening on Thursday (closed Monday).
