The Wereldmuseum Amsterdam sheds light on this period where the night served as a political manifesto for Black, Latino, and queer communities. Kwame Brathwaite’s clichés and Andy Warhol’s canvases sit alongside Nile Rodgers’ guitar or a MiniMoog ready to vibrate. The experience is physical: visitors can manipulate mixing consoles to understand how sound shaped these spaces of freedom. Between archives of sweat and militant pride, the journey pays tribute to the dancing inventors who challenged norms before the crises and commercial appropriations. This rhythmic auditory journey, like a DJ set, welcomes visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
