800 years after his death, Genghis Khan finally reveals his world. The James-Simon Gallery presents an unprecedented archaeological investigation into the founder of the Mongol Empire, far from the clichés of the ruthless warrior. More than 200 objects, primarily from Mongolia and originating from prestigious international collections (Poland, Romania, Deutsches Historisches Museum), offer a fascinating glimpse into the “Mongol Century” (1250-1350). From trade routes to goldsmithing, bronze figurines to fortified cities, the exhibition deconstructs myths. Visitors will be able to admire statues, jewelry and even blacksmith molds, direct witnesses of a complex and innovative civilization. This exhibition, the result of two decades of German-Mongolian research, offers a new, almost tactile approach thanks to careful presentations and informative panels in German and English. A unique immersion into the Khan’s universe, accessible to the public until April 18, 2027.
