Ingrid Wiener: Gobelins, Films and Dreams - Barbara Wien
In 2026, the Barbara Wien gallery will present an exhibition dedicated to Ingrid Wiener, an artist born near Vienna in 1942, exploring the connections between textile, dream, and memory. The exhibition, titled “Gobelins, Films and Dreams,” highlights a selection of her recent tapestries, intimate “dream drawings,” as well as videos, recordings, and books. Wiener, influenced by Dieter Roth, transforms traditional artisanal techniques into powerful works, addressing themes of female labor, creativity, and cultural production. The exhibition offers an immersion in a dialogue between different media, revealing a deep investigation into how the stories of women have been recorded, erased, or reinterpreted over time. A film by her husband, Oswald Wiener, from 2015, completes the experience, illustrating the creative process of weaving. The exhibition is free and is part of Gallery Weekend Berlin 2026.
