In 1962, Karsten Konrad was born in Würzburg. The exhibition at the heart of Berlin presents an unprecedented collection of works crafted by this artist, whose unique approach translates into the transformation of ordinary materials – Formica, wood, fragments from 1970s kitchens – into sculptures and objects. Konrad is interested in the complex layers that compose our perception of “landscape,” creating works where industrial surfaces come to life. He assembles what the city throws away or standardizes, transforming banal elements into poignant sculptural forms. The exhibition is an exploration of everyday aesthetics, a dialogue between art and furniture. Visitors are invited to contemplate these meticulously constructed creations, the result of a rigorous method: gluing, cutting, stacking, creating stable structures. An original approach that gives new dimension to everyday objects. Admission is free, opening hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
