Koo Jeong A. Ousséan - KW Institute for Contemporary Art
In 2026, the work of KOO JEONG A, a Korean artist born in 1967, marks his first major solo exhibition in Berlin. The ‘OUSSEAN’ exhibition at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art brings together works dating from the 1990s to today – trembling walls, magnetic towers, luminous drawings and even a simple sugar cube. The artist, having lived in the German capital for several decades, explores an aesthetic where sensory experience takes precedence over monumental form. Inspired by Taoism and the science of Qi, he invites careful contemplation, as suggested by Nietzsche: “He who does not know how to sit at the heart of a moment will not know what happiness is.” The KW’s architecture becomes a tool for perception. The exhibition is designed to be experienced slowly, in a deliberate semi-darkness, prioritizing the ‘invisible push’. It presents works from exhibitions in Venice, Seoul and Munich, testifying to a global and singular artistic approach.
