For the first time in half a century, the Kupferstichkabinett is unveiling its Flemish treasures with such breadth. More than one hundred drawings trace the effervescence of Antwerp between 1570 and 1650, a period when the city transformed into a veritable factory of images on a global commercial backdrop. At the heart of this journey, the genius of Peter Paul Rubens asserts himself from his return from Italy in 1609. Alongside him, prodigy Anton van Dyck and vigorous Jacob Jordaens complete this masterful trio. The main interest lies in the intimacy of the line: one observes a corrected hand, a repentance or an idea taking shape on paper before becoming a masterpiece. These sheets, sometimes stained or stubborn, show art in the making. A brochure invites children to try their hand at drawing, while the cabinet offers off-peak openings on weekends.
