In October 2026, Alex Da Corte transformed an iconic work by Roy Lichtenstein – ‘Hot Dog’ (1963) – into a bold intervention on the stage of the Whitney Museum. The artist unleashed a torrent of ketchup onto the original image, creating a visceral and unpredictable interpretation. This project, integrated into the exhibition ‘Roy Lichtenstein: Like New’, explores the links between popular art, cultural icons, and performance. Da Corte uses painting and sculpture techniques to question our perception of traditional artworks. The installation is a living dialogue with the 1967 billboard, revisited by a contemporary artist. This project is a collaboration between Da Corte and his assistants, who reproduced the work on the museum building. An accessible artwork, this artistic intervention offers a new perspective on pop art and its lasting impact.
