Bea Scaccia: Groomed - Gagosian
In 2026, Bea Scaccia’s work, already fascinated by performances and the construction of identity, took on a new dimension with “Groomed.” This exhibition, presented in New York, reveals seven previously unseen paintings featuring ambiguous figures draped in luxurious textiles and fashion accessories, appearing suspended between the act of preparation and the failure to achieve. Inspired by yoga poses on ladders and dressing room scenes, the artist explores the tension between the desire for perfect appearance and the fragility of existence. Vibrant colors and contrasting textures – faux fur, jewelry, shoes – create a dreamlike universe halfway between a theatrical set and a scene of life. “Groomed” is an invitation to contemplate bodies in becoming, frozen gestures, and the strange beauty of self-presentation. The exhibition, curated by Francesco Bonami, marks her entry into Gagosian and fits within a poetic exploration of performance and identity. Free admission.
