Charles Seliger: The Structure of Matter, A Centennial Exhibition

In 2026, Hollis Taggart will celebrate the centennial of the birth of Charles Seliger, an American painter fascinated by the structures of nature and prehistoric symbols. The exhibition “The Structure of Matter” presents an entirely new collection of works, ranging from 1944 to 1993, offering a complete overview of his artistic evolution. Seliger, associated with the Abstract Expressionists, drawing inspiration from surrealism and ancient myths, developed complex abstractions inspired by the natural world. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to examine the work of an artist who sought to translate the complexity of the world through miniature forms.
