Eileen Agar established herself as the only female British figure within the international surrealist exhibition of 1936. At the Andrew Kreps Gallery, her creations demonstrate an inexhaustible fascination for the hidden order of nature and the fusion of forms. Between April and June 2026, the space will highlight compositions where the vegetal and organic intertwine to give rise to hybrid visions. Agar used collage and painting to capture the rhythm of the living world, transforming gleaned natural elements into vibrant abstractions. These works illustrate her quest for Amorphism, a style free of rigid artistic dogma that prioritizes spontaneity. It’s a privileged opportunity to observe how this pioneering artist managed to marry the surrealist imagination with the textures of the earth. The works are visible from April 24th to June 20th, 2026.
