Elise Ansel: Duets

In 2026, Elise Ansel continues her fascinating exploration of Italian Renaissance, drawing inspiration from Venetian masters – Bellini, Giorgione, and Titian – not as idealized figures, but as sources of visual alchemy. Her new paintings unfold a meticulous dissection of their colorimetry and composition, before reinterpreting them with explosive energy. The artist works in parallel on destruction and creation, creating works where the classical heritage transforms into something profoundly new. This exhibition, accompanied by an illustrated publication by Lilly Wei, marks her second solo presentation at Miles McEnery Gallery. It offers a novel perspective on how art can engage with history, infusing ancient techniques with a contemporary vision. The exhibition is open from April 2nd to May 10th, 2026.
