Created between 1966 and 2009, Emma Amos’s work explores freedom and pleasure through black figures swimming and bathing. This exhibition presents a collection of five paintings and seventeen works on paper, testifying to the artist's constant exploration of this theme. Born in 1937, Amos dedicated her career to deconstructing traditional representations of Black women in art, offering an intimate look at vulnerability and strength. The exhibition highlights a series of powerful images that challenge the social and racial norms of her time. The works are characterized by their attention to detail and their exploration of the complex relationships between the body, water, and representation. A rare opportunity to discover a deeply personal and politically engaged work.
