Ilan Averbuch hadn’t invested his work in the walls of the Nancy Hoffman Gallery since 2017. For his return, the artist orchestrates a striking dialogue between the ruggedness of granite, the rigidity of steel, and the vulnerability of paper. This singular installation assembles monumental works and drawings within a mosaic composition, creating a landscape where the pencil stroke directly responds to the mineral mass. The balance of forces inhabits every corner of the space: the imposing structures seem to lighten in contact with the graphic works, offering a fluid and organic reading of his recent work. By combining different textures and scales, the sculptor proposes a visual reflection on persistence and transformation, transforming the gallery into a puzzle of materials where each element finds its place with surgical precision.
