For over four decades, John Evans has shaped landscapes and still lifes with an approach that distinguishes itself from the figurative. The exhibition “The Shape of Stillness,” presented at Gallery Henoch, highlights his latest works where he reduces natural elements – sinuous rivers, moon, plants – to arrangements of color, form, and line. Evans explores a subtle balance between observation of the real world and progressive abstraction. His paintings, such as "Blackstone" or “Dark Beauty”, deconstruct familiar subjects into simple geometric forms, thus creating a unique visual harmony. The artist’s creative process is intuitive and physical, involving repeated manipulations – rubbing, scratching, drawing – before the “stability” reveals itself. The exhibition is open to the public during an opening reception on October 15th from 6 pm. This exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the artistic evolution of John Evans and his constant search for beauty in simplicity.
