Kosuke Ajiro. ‘Excavation Record I – Goodbye’ - GR Gallery
In 1980, Kosuke Ajiro began to weave the story of a unique world: the Kingdom of Sally. This first solo exhibition in the United States presents ‘Excavation Record I – Sayonara’, a fascinating dive into this civilization invented by the Japanese artist. Ajiro uses the figure of the archaeologist to guide us through paintings that reveal fragments of a complex mythology, blending history, fantasy and archaeology. Each work is an artifact extracted from this imaginary world, inviting the viewer to question the nature of reality and interpretation. The exhibition explores the links between the past and the present, and how we construct our own understanding of the world. A poetic and contemplative exploration, accessible to all.
