Lisa Corinne Davis: Williamsburg Biannual - Miles McEnery Gallery
In 2017, Lisa Corinne Davis already explored the boundaries between painting and digital media. Today, in Williamsburg, she presents “What’s Going On?”, an exhibition of ten years of works that map complex and invented networks. These abstract paintings, created with contrasting techniques – sometimes rough, sometimes fluid – challenge traditional genre and identity categories. Davis uses repetitive motifs and organic forms to evoke notions such as order and chaos, rationality and irrationality, while also addressing sensitively questions related to race and culture. The artist, trained at Yale and Hunter College, invites the viewer to reflect on our need for fixity in the face of the constant flux of the modern world. The exhibition is free and extends until January 30, 2027.
