Perri Neri: Caught Looking

In 2026, artist Perri Neri explores the relationship between the individual and the image in “Caught Looking,” an exhibition presented by The Painting Center. The work emerged from a bold challenge: Neri abandoned his monumental canvases to focus on the face, soliciting selfies from his followers. More than 30 unique portraits have emerged from this collaboration, each painted with a precise 16 x 12-inch realism. This series represents an innovative experiment, combining the spontaneity of instant portraits with the artistic control of the artist.
